About Us

Silverskär Islands is a special conference and recreation facility in Åland's northern archipelago. The location consists of several islands; the main island is the archipelago homestead Silverskär, Klobben - a modern fishing camp or the hermit hut at Sviskär. Champagne Island with the small champagne keeper's cottage is our latest addition. 

You choose your own island for meetings and conferences and parties, for fishing and hunting, but of course also for completely undemanding relaxation in beautiful nature. On our islands you will find smooth, red granite cliffs, blooming summer meadows and lovely forest, all with proximity to the sea. And all this only half an hour from Mariehamn!  

Nature offers tranquility and every season has its charm. Guests are taken care of in a personal way. Those who book one of the Silverskär islands, get an entire island at their exclusive disposal.

At Silverskär Islands, the staff is our main resource. We always do our best to put you as a guest at the center and we can say without boasting that we deliver personal and caring service combined with attention to detail and solution focus. The staff at Silverskär are from the surrounding area and many have worked at Silverskär for a long time.

  • Kickan

    Kickan Sundblom - Office Manager & Booking

    Kickan is our office manager and handles all matters in the office. It is often her friendly voice you are greeted with if you contact us by phone. Kickan has been involved from the beginning, when there were about 10 beds and the food was prepared in a kitchen of just under 5 m2, and has seen the business grow to what it is today! If you fall in love with the interior and our many details, it is highly likely that Kickan's eye for color and form is behind it!

    Johan Mörn - Site Manager

    Johan is an archipelago artist and storyteller with a source of inspiration in archipelago traditions, nature and the sea. He has worked with us at Silverskär Islands since 1996 and no one can steer a boat like Johan can! Johan's passion for lifting the local and working sustainably in combination with innovative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit means that he sees opportunities almost no one else sees, which has made Johan the person behind many of the successful ideas we have implemented over the years. Listening to Johan telling the stories about our islands is an experience itself and he is also very hard to beat in clay pigeon shooting!

    Carita Eriksson - Hostess

    Carita has worked with us for over 25 years and is known for her soft friendliness and her pleasant way of meeting you as a guest. Carita has an eye for details and is adept at turning a simple lowbush blueberry from the woods into a beautiful bouquet on the dinner table! Carita drives the boat like a pro and makes sure that the sheds at Klobben and Eremitkojan at Sviskär are ready and welcoming when you arrive! In between, she welcomes guests with pancakes and schnapps on the bridge or you can find her in the serving room!

  • Gustav

    Gustav Eriksson - Head Chef

    Gustav is our eminent head chef who usually presents the food you are served when visiting us! He has a genuine interest in everything related to "real food" and takes care of Silverskär's greenhouses and own farms where different vegetables and herbs grow to go directly into the pots in the kitchen, it doesn't get more locally grown than that! Gustav is also very knowledgeable when it comes to drinks and often has a hand in the game regarding which drinks are served to our guests and also participates in part of our drink tastings. Gustav has many small projects going on in the kitchen, it could be making his own ketchup or why not long-term storage of a vinegar? A very versatile man and great asset for Silverskär!

    Hasse Laaksonen - Chef

    Hasse is Gustav's gun bearer and a real doer in the kitchen! Hasse has previously run his own restaurant and received an award for Finland's best golf restaurant, what an achievemet! However, we are not surprised because when Hasse cooks the flavors fit like a glove. If you hear soneone singing (somewhat out of tune but heartily) some old Rolling Stones song from the kitchen, you know Hasse is cooking! Maybe that's what makes the flavors?

    Ulrika Rosshagen - Booking & Service

    Ulrika is the newest on the island but more or less grew up in the waters around Silverskär. Ulrika helps out with the bookings and is often involved in planning of your stay so that it turns the way you want it. Once out on one of our islands, you will often meet her on the pier or in the dining room or somewhere in between, always with a smile at hand. Ulrika thrives like a fish in the bay when she gets to help so that your stay lives up to your expectations!
