The food at Silverskär
At Silverskär we consider the meals to be an important part of the experience. Therefore we put our souls into the food we are serving. This includes everything from finding the best produce of the highest quality, preparing the meals with respect for the produce and also highlighting the heritage and culinary traditions of the plates we are serving to our guests.
When you are enjoying a meal at Silverkär we want you to feel and taste the genuine flair of the archipelago, which is the theme of our islands and naturally also of our food. Therefore, we always let the four seasons be the guideline for our menus. The kitchen team at Silverskär are collaborating with farmers and fishermen nearby to be able to prepare local produce.
Our key concept is Sustainability
Silverskär has its own butchery. This gives us the opportunity to buy local pastured meat and hang it to dry age in our butchery. We always serve meat that maintains high quality and traceability of it's origins. In addition, this way the taste experience becomes something out of the ordinary.
All fish is caught from the sea around Åland. We mainly use fish caught by our friends in the local waters of the area, but we also go out fishing ourselves and we encourage our guests come and catch fish with us.
Bread and pastries are baked of organic flour from Överängen Mill in Ödkarby. We forage herbs and spices that grows in the wild, but we also have a small kitchen garden on Silverskär. Vegetables and root vegetables are harvested by devoted Åland farmers – also, with all our purchases, sustainability is always the keyword.

In Silverskär's kitchen we are constantly exploring new opportunities of making the most of the cultural heritage and food and cooking traditions of Åland. That's why we combine old techniques, tastes and natural preservation methods with contemporary cooking methods. We try to create unique taste experiences that feel familiar and natural at the same time.
